BEFORE YOU ADOPT

We at Sadie Mae Foundation want nothing more than to see every animal saved, but having and caring for an animal the rest of his/her life is a major commitment. Sadie Mae Foundation tries very hard to ensure that its animals are going to a true 'forever home'.

Every time an animal is uprooted from his/her familiar surroundings, it causes many different emotions. The same as it would for us, only the animal can't speak to tell us. In-turn, some animals 'grin and bear it', while others may convey anxiety through various behaviors. This is the reason the Sadie Mae Foundation's adoption application process is so detailed. We try very hard to make the transition a joyful one for both the pet and the new owner.

If you are considering adopting a pet, please ask yourself a few questions first:

  • Why do you want a dog?

  • Are you ready for the long term commitment?

  • Do you have the time to devote to your companion?

  • Are you prepared for the lifestyle changes your pet will give you?

Adoptable Animals

Please note that we do not ship animals or do same-day adoptions. Additionally, you must be a resident in the New England area in order to adopt from Sadie Mae Foundation Animal Rescue League Inc.

While in the care of the Sadie Mae Foundation all animals are fully vaccinated, heart worm tested and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Other medical treatments may be provided to our animals, depending upon their specific needs.

If you are not in a position to adopt a pet that tugs at your heart strings, consider donating toward its care.
